RAWALPINDI, Jan 01 (APP):A large number of tourist families enjoyed New Year festivities on Wednesday night along the Mall Road of the hill resort amid special arrangements made by the Murree district administration.
The festive atmosphere was further enhanced by the possibility of snowfall, as all relevant departments remained active in the field on the directives of Deputy
Commissioner Murree Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi, an administration spokesperson said on Thursday.
The spokesperson said a fireworks display was held to mark the New Year, while special prayers were offered for the country’s security and development.
The tourists appreciated the measures taken by the district administration to ensure New Year celebrations in a secure environment. Deputy Commissioner Shirazi said ensuring the safety of tourists and providing them with facilitation remained the administration’s top priority.
He said effective security arrangements had been put in place for the New Year, adding that all administrative departments were on alert in view of the celebrations and the likelihood of snowfall.
The deputy commissioner said facilitation centres had been activated to assist and guide tourists, adding that all roads remained clear and the traffic management plan was being implemented in letter and spirit.
