LAHORE, Jul 30 (APP):The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Lahore has arrested three individuals, including a staff member of the Sheikhupura passport office, during a targeted raid on charges of extorting money from citizens in exchange for expedited passport processing.
According to an FIA spokesperson, the suspects, identified as Abid Mehmood, Nouman Zafar and Fakhar Abbas were involved in falsely promising faster passport services in return for illicit payments. All three are residents of different areas in Sheikhupura.
The raid led to the recovery of several pieces of incriminating evidence, including passports, token slips, bank challans and receipts. The spokesperson said the suspects were part of a broader network exploiting citizens through corrupt practices within the passport issuance system.
A formal investigation has been launched and further raids are underway to arrest additional individuals connected to the scheme, added spokesperson.
