Three groundwater recharge wells go operational, project to be expanded across Punjab

LAHORE, Nov 17 (APP): Work has been started on the project to construct groundwater recharge wells in the provincial metropolis.
According to WASA sources, three recharge wells have been activated in the Gulberg area, the construction work has been completed by WASA Lahore. Groundwater recharge wells have been activated in Liberty Chowk, Maratab Ali Road and H Block Park. The project will help maintain the groundwater level and solve the long-standing problem of urban flooding.
The sources said that capacity of all groundwater recharge wells is 8000 gallons per day. Smart solutions were introduced keeping in mind all the technical aspects. The project will start from Lahore and will soon be spread across the province.
Furthermore, according to the Housing Department sources, more suitable green belts are being selected by PHA Lahore. Groundwater recharge points will be constructed in the province under WASA Punjab.
