SUKKUR, Dec 01 (APP):Thousands of rural women artisans from across Sindh will display their handicrafts at the 17th Sartyoon Sang Crafts Exhibition at Ocean Mall, Clifton. The three-day event, organized by the Sindh Rural Support Organisation (SRSO) in collaboration with the Sindh government, will be open to the public from Friday, December 5, 2025 to Sunday, December 7, 2025.
A statement issued here on Monday said the exhibition aims to provide market linkages and better income opportunities for rural women artisans. Stalls in the mall’s main foyer will showcase a wide range of products garments, appliqué and embroidery shirts, stoles, shalwars, pants, rillis, cushions, Ajrak, furniture, decorative pieces, leather handbags, bed sheets and other traditional items.
SRSO has held such exhibitions for the past 17 years, drawing strong interest from visitors for handmade household goods and traditional products.
SRSO Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Muhammad Dittal Kalhoro said Sartyoon Sang Craft Enterprise has empowered over 13,000 women artisans from disadvantaged backgrounds in Sindh. He said through 308 Business Development Groups (BDGs), SRSO promotes traditional crafts blended with modern designs, noting that handmade products create culture and ambiance.
He said the event is designed to boost incomes for female artisans from remote districts including Jacobabad, Kandhkot-Kashmore, Shikarpur, Ghotki, Qambar-Shahdadkot, Thatta, Badin, Mirpurkhas, Khairpur, Larkana and others. Thousands of women have been trained in various trades, integrating urban trends into their work to maximize economic benefit.
“To differentiate their products from market competitors, we have introduced innovations such as networking on blankets,” Kalhoro added.
