DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Oct 25 (APP):Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Tanvir Khan has said that solid measures would be taken to extend relief to citizens by ensuring availability of edible items for them at affordable prices.
He expressed these views while chairing a meeting of the district’s price review committee which was attended by Secretary Price Review Committee, DFC Sami Ullah Jan, officials from the Livestock department, Intelligence department and representatives of traders and shopkeeper’s unions.
He directed the officials concerned to pay visits to markets on a regular basis in order to ensure that citizens got food items at the prices determined by the committee.
In this regard, he said no leniency should be shown in a bid to extend benefits of the government’s welfare-oriented measures to a common man.
He urged people to identify those business elements who were overcharging people and report to the concerned authorities for taking action against them.
He also warned shopkeepers that strict legal action would be taken against them, if they were found involved in unlawful business practices like hoarding and profiteering.
