LAHORE, Nov 16 (APP): The three-day International Tablighi congregation concluded at Raiwind on Sunday with a special prayer for the prosperity and solidarity of the country and unity within the Muslim world.
Following the prayers, thousands of attendees began their journey home. To facilitate smoother traffic flow, Raiwind Road was converted into a one-way route.
Special arrangements were made at Raiwind Railway Station to manage the high volume of travelers. All trains were instructed to make stops at the station for the convenience of Ijtema attendees. DSP Samia Sultan, along with senior Railway Police officials, inspected the security measures to ensure a safe and orderly departure.
Lahore’s Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Dr. Athar Waheed reported that a special traffic plan was put in place for the evacuation of participants, with about 1,200 personnel on duty.
After the closing prayer, roads leading to and from Raiwind, including Lahore Road, Sundar Road, and Manga Road, were converted to one-way to ensure smooth traffic flow. One-way traffic was also implemented along both sides of Raiwind Road, from Pajian Mor to Qazalbash Chowk, and along Sundar Road and Thokar Niaz Baig.
Furthermore, vehicles carrying participants were directed to follow a one-way system on Multan Road and Raiwind Manga Road. During the evacuation, no traffic would be allowed to descend from the motorway or ring road toward Raiwind. Vehicles coming from Raiwind were diverted to use the ring road route from Ada Plot.
CTO Dr. Waheed further explained that during the evacuation, motorcycle and rickshaw stands would be cleared first, followed by car, wagon, bus, and truck stands in phases.
In addition to regular traffic officers, additional staff and office personnel were deployed to alleviate traffic pressure. The public was also advised to avoid traveling on Raiwind Road until after 12 noon to prevent any inconvenience.
