LAHORE, Sep 27 (APP):A suspect in police custody was killed during an alleged encounter between the Counter Crime Department (CCD) and his accomplices in the Shera Kot area,here on Sunday.

According to police,a CCD team was transporting the suspect,identified as Muhammad Asif, for a recovery operation when his accomplices allegedly ambushed the police team in the Chung area.

Police said an exchange of fire took place,during which the suspect in custody was hit by bullets allegedly fired by his own accomplices and died on the spot.

The alleged attackers managed to escape under the cover of darkness,police added.

According to police, the deceased suspect was allegedly involved in serious crimes,including murder,attempted murder,dacoity and robbery.
