Sukkur IBA Inaugurates Access to Web of Science & Scopus Databases
SUKKUR, May 08 (APP):Sukkur IBA University on Friday organized the inauguration ceremony of the internationally recognized research databases Web of Science and Scopus. The initiative will help to promoting quality research, academic excellence, and improved access to global scholarly resources for faculty members, researchers, and students.
Prof Dr Asif Ahmed Shaikh, Vice Chancellor of Sukkur IBA University, formally inaugurated the databases and addressed the participants. He described the initiative as a significant step toward strengthening the University’s research environment and academic standards.
He stated that access to these internationally recognized databases will enable faculty members and students to explore quality research literature, enhance scholarly work, and contribute effectively to innovation and knowledge development.
He further emphasized the University’s commitment to fostering a research-oriented academic culture that encourages critical thinking, intellectual growth, and international academic engagement. Aamir Subhani, Chief Librarian, welcomed the distinguished guests and presented an overview of the databases. He highlighted the importance of providing access to internationally recognized academic resources to support evidence-based learning and strengthen research activities within the University.
Dr Saeed Ahmed Khan Abro, Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology, shared key insights on Web of Science and Scopus, highlighting their role as leading citation databases for accessing high-quality, peer-reviewed research and tracking scholarly impact.
Dr Suman from the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) discussed the significance of Web of Science and Scopus in higher education institutions. She emphasized their role in improving research visibility, citation impact, and institutional ranking, while also promoting quality publications and international research standards.
The ceremony concluded with closing remarks by Prof Dr Mir Muhammad Shah, Pro Vice Chancellor Main Campus, who appreciated the efforts of the Library and ORIC teams in facilitating access to these valuable research platforms. He also reiterated the importance of strengthening research capacity and promoting academic excellence within higher education institutions.
The event was attended by faculty members, researchers, administrative officials, and students, marking another important step toward fostering a strong culture of research and scholarly excellence at Sukkur IBA University.
