RAWALPINDI, Dec 23 (APP): Patron-in-Chief of Idara Taleemat-e-Islamia Pakistan Allama Syed Riaz Hussain Shah on Tuesday said that had the teachings of the Sufi saints been followed and the truth accepted, the world would not have been engulfed in bloodshed and justice would have prevailed everywhere.
Delivering a Dars-e-Quran here at a gathering, he said jealousy destroyed a person from within, citing the historical example of Habil and Qabil. He said that mild words were preferable to harsh speech, but “true excellence lay in elevated conduct”, adding that human behaviour should reflect the spirit of the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
Allama Riaz referred to Tafsir-e-Ishari and cited eminent scholars, including Ibn Arabi and Allama Baqli, to explain that symbolic interpretations of the Holy Quran highlighted the solemnity and accountability of the Day of Judgment.
Quoting Khwaja Abdul Khaliq Ghijduwani, he said,”Knowledge illuminates the heart but can be harmful without sincerity and righteous action, breeding greed and jealousy.”
He said respect could not be attained without righteous companionship and that both the beginning and culmination of Tasawwuf lay in realising the essence of La Ilaha Illallah. He also highlighted the teachings of Maulana Rumi and Allama Muhammad Iqbal, emphasising steadfastness in standing with the truth.
Reiterating his message, he said adherence to the teachings of the Sufi saints would lead to justice and peace in society. He concluded by offering prayers for Pakistan’s security and stability, as well as for a bright future for the Muslim Ummah.
