PESHAWAR, Oct 09 (APP):Rehman Medical Institute (RMI) has once again demonstrated its medical excellence and advanced healthcare capabilities by successfully performing a kidney transplant on a 13-year-old boy.
The patient, Safwan Mughal from Bannu, had been undergoing dialysis for several months due to complete kidney failure.
According to the family, both of Safwan’s kidneys had stopped functioning, and undergoing dialysis twice a week had not only weakened the child but also placed immense emotional and financial strain on the family.
Medical experts made it clear that a kidney transplant was the only viable option to save his life.
In a remarkable act of compassion, the boy’s aunt stepped forward to donate her kidney.
The complex transplant surgery was carried out by Dr. Qaiser Iqbal, a leading nephrologist and transplant surgeon at RMI, along with his dedicated medical team, in a state-of-the-art operating theatre.
The procedure was completed successfully and without complications.
Dr. Qaiser Iqbal shared that Safwan’s kidneys had completely dried up, and after seeking medical advice from various hospitals across the country, the family finally arrived at RMI, where they received comprehensive treatment.
Post-transplant, the child was kept under close medical supervision for five days to ensure a smooth recovery.
Expressing his gratitude, Safwan’s father said, “This was an extremely difficult journey for our family, but the timely intervention of Dr. Qaiser Iqbal and the team at RMI gave our son a new life. Facilities like these do not exist in areas like Bannu, which is why I strongly recommend RMI for kidney transplants.”
It is noteworthy that Rehman Medical Institute is among the leading healthcare institutions in the country for kidney transplantation and has successfully performed over 400 kidney transplants to date.
