QUETTA, Jul 24 (APP): Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Thursday said that a strong communication system would lead the province towards economic self-sufficiency.
He expressed these views while presiding over a review meeting on progress of ongoing communication projects here.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, Secretary Communications Lal Jan Jafar, Secretary Finance Imran Zarkoon and other officials.
Secretary Communications gave a detailed briefing on ongoing projects including Rakhni Bekar Highway.
Addressing the meeting, the chief minister directed concerned officials to ensure quality, transparency and timely completion of projects. “Highways are not just routes which are a source of development and prosperity”, he noted.
He said that the development projects are subject to public welfare saying that negligence would not be tolerated and it was responsibility of concerned officials to monitor works of constant progress projects in their areas in order to ensure timely conclusion of them with standards for interest of advancement of the area.
Sarfraz Bugti said that construction of tunnels in hilly areas could make long routes easier and shorter adding that Rakhni Bekar Road and other projects would connect the backward areas of Balochistan with development.
He said that better roads, it facilitates access to health, education and employment so that way incumbent provincial government is paying special attention on ongoing development schemes including construction of roads with the aim to facilitate people in the areas.
