RAWALPINDI, Jan 17 (APP):Official records in Rawalpindi now adopt the historically correct spellings of key geographical features, following guidance from renowned historian and archaeologist the late Professor Ahmed Hasan Dani.
A Rawalpindi Commissioner’s Office notification of May 2, 2024, directed the use of “Pothwar”, “River Soan” and “Leh Nala” instead of previously incorrect variants, after a National Highway Authority notice had referred to “Pothohar Avenue” rather than the accurate “Pothwar Avenue”.
The junction where three water channels; River Soan, River Korang and Leh Nala, meet at the Soan Bridge on Pothwar Avenue was also renamed “Pothwar Sangam” to reflect correct historical and geographical nomenclature.
