SSUET, KHA decide to promote Hockey at university level

KARACHI, Oct 16 (APP):Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) and Karachi Hockey Association (KHA) decided to promote and develop national game Hockey at university level.
This was decided in a meeting held here at SSUET with President of the Karachi Hockey Association, Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hasan in the chair. The participants included directors of sports of various universities, prominent Olympians and personalities associated with hockey. The aim of the meeting was to formulate a common strategy for the promotion, organization and training of young players in universities and academic institutions.
Registrar SSUET, Syed Sarfraz Ali said that the sports department of the university has organized many successful events in the past and we have trained, hardworking and experienced people who always ensured the success of such programs.
Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan specially thanked the Chancellor of Sir Syed University Muhammad Akbar Ali Khan, under whose guidance this event is being organized. He said that this initiative will benefit not only the students of the university but also the hockey players in Karachi and it will help in the promotion of hockey.
The meeting unanimously decided that the University Hockey Tournament will be held in the last week of this month. Furthermore, Registrar of Sir Syed University, Syed Sarfraz Ali announced that Olympian Qamar Ibrahim will be the Patron of the event, who will play a key role in guiding the players and preparing them for the event. In the same meeting, Olympian Qamar Ibrahim announced the formation of a “Committee for the Improvement of Hockey at the University Level” in consultation with the President of Karachi Hockey Association, Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hasan.
The meeting was attended by the Olympian Sameer Hussain, International Hockey Player Muhammad Ali Khan, Mohsin Ali Khan (Member of Board of Governors, Sir Syed University), Ismail Shah, District Sports Officer, East District.
