DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Oct 25 (APP):Deputy Commissioner South Waziristan Upper district Ashfaq Khan has underlined the need for promoting sports activities among the students along with education for their healthy personality development.
He expressed these views while speaking at a sports week’s ceremony organized by the District Sports Department here Wednesday.
Speaking as chief guest at the ceremony, the DC said that where sports fields thrived, hospitals and prisons remained empty, so the students had to be encouraged to take part in sports activities as well along with their education for strengthening their physical as well as mental abilities.
Earlier, a special prayer was offered for the oppressed Palestinian Muslims, followed by a tug of war competition. A football match was played and players received wide applause from the crowd for showing excellent performance.
In a welcome address, sports officer Noorullah Wazir appreciated the Department for organizing the successful sports events and later handed over sports kits to students.
District Youth Officer Sardar Ali and Principal Kaleemuddin Mehsud besides students, officials and parents were also present on the occasion.
