RAWALPINDI, Mar 16 (APP): After the successful culmination of two-day literary competitions under the week-long Sports activities of the historic Government Graduate College Asghar Mall, the inaugural ceremony of the athletics games contest started here on Wednesday.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Chairman Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Rawalpindi Dr Khalid Mahmood and Director Education College Rawalpindi Division Sher Ahmad Satti as chief guests.

The athletics competitions held at the inaugural ceremony included 100 meters and 200 meters sprints, javelin throw, shot put and long jump.


In the first round of the sprints qualifying candidates were got selected for the final phase whereas Javed Khan from Rawal House qualified in Javelin Throw, Husnain Raza of Potohar House in Shot Put, Imran Ahmad from Punjab House in Long Jump achieved first positions.


The event was also attended by a large gathering of former principals and professors of the College whereas a flag march was also conducted by the student athletes. Moreover, eight more competitions would be held on March 17 under the Sports Week.


The College was divided into five groups of Potohar, Rawal, Kohsar, Margalla and Punjab houses to compete in various sports and literary contests.

During the first two days of the Week, literary competitions were held whereas in the remaining four days athletics contests would be held.


A five-member committee comprising Professor Sajid Mehmoood Farooqi (Chairman Committee), Professor Irfan Nazir, Professor Muhmmahd Azam, Professor Jalil Asghar Satti, and Professor Baqi Waseem was constituted to hold the competitions.
