MULTAN, Jan 07 (APP):South Punjab Secretariat plays a vital role in ensuring good governance and delivering services at people’s doorstep,said Special Secretary Forests and Wildlife South Punjab Captain (R) Rizwan Qadeer while briefing a visiting delegation on Wednesday.
A 13-member delegation of officers undergoing the Mid-Career Management Course at NIPA visited the South Punjab Secretariat, where they were received by Special Secretary Captain (R) Rizwan Qadeer along with Additional Secretaries Zahoor Hussain Bhutta and Abdul Saboor Thakur,on behalf of Additional Chief Secretary South Punjab Fawad Hashim Rabbani.
Director Staff NIPA Shahana Batool also attended the briefing.
Briefing the delegation,Rizwan Qadeer said that the South Punjab Secretariat was central to improving governance, transparency and timely service delivery across the region.
He informed that 65 percent construction work of the Secretariat building has been completed, while official residences have been fully completed.
He said the Zero Out of School Children campaign is successfully under way in South Punjab, while initiatives such as transgender schools, School Olympics Games, Hockey League and student councils were among the region’s proud achievements.
He added that the Secretariat played an effective role during recent floods and relief operations.
He further stated that following the success of the shrimp farming model project in district Muzaffargarh, the Chief Minister Punjab has issued special instructions for promotion of shrimp farming. To ensure transparency and timely disposal of official matters,the Electronic Filing Office Automation System was first launched from the South Punjab Secretariat,he added.
Rizwan Qadeer said that through Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics,Chief Minister Punjab Clinics on Wheels and field hospitals, efficient medical facilities are being provided to people in remote areas.
He also highlighted vast tourism potential in the hilly, desert and plain areas of South Punjab.
At the end of the briefing,a question-answer session was held. Director Staff NIPA Shahana Batool and course coordinators presented an honorary shield to Special Secretary Captain (R) Rizwan Qadeer,while shields and souvenirs were exchanged between the visiting delegation and the South Punjab Secretariat officials.
