BAHAWALPUR, Oct 29 (APP):On the recommendation of the Environment Protection Department, 13 brick kilns have been demolished in Bahawalpur district for violating standard operating procedures (SOPs) and contributing to air pollution and smog.
According to sources in the department, the anti-smog campaign has been launched across Bahawalpur in line with the province-wide drive against environmental pollution. Brick kiln owners had earlier been directed to shift their operations to zigzag technology to minimise smoke emissions and control air pollution.
Inspection teams of the Environment Department found 13 brick kilns operating in violation of the prescribed standards. Following their recommendations, the district administration took action and demolished the non-compliant kilns.
Officials reaffirmed that the anti-smog campaign would continue with full force to curb pollution and protect public health in Bahawalpur and adjoining areas.
