SMBBMU Larkana Holds Awareness Programme on “Together Against Corruption”
LARKANA, Sep 30 (APP):Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU), Larkana, in collaboration with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), organized an awareness programme under the theme “Together Against Corruption” to create awareness among students about the causes and consequences of corruption and promote integrity, responsibility and transparency here on Wednesday in Chandka Medical College Larkana.
Students from all constituent colleges and institutes of the University participated enthusiastically in the activities, which included a one-day poster and painting exhibition at the Gymnasium Hall of Chandka Medical College. An awareness session was also held at the Final Year Lecture Hall, where students presented five-minute videos highlighting different forms of corruption, its impact on society and the importance of collective efforts to prevent it.
Addressing the gathering, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Nusrat Shah said that quality education could play a fundamental role in eliminating corruption. She observed that corruption often becomes more consequential when it involves people holding positions of greater authority and responsibility. Appreciating the enthusiasm and commitment of the students, she said that their participation had strengthened her belief that there was hope for positive change.
Professor Nusrat Shah emphasized that the journey towards a better society must begin with the individual. She said that every person should begin the process of improvement from within themselves, as individual improvement ultimately leads to collective progress. She further stressed that corruption could be effectively addressed when the head of every household became a role model through honesty, personal conduct and responsible behaviour.
Dean Professor Dr. Shahida Magsi said that corruption was not merely a financial or administrative issue, but also weakened moral values and undermined public trust in institutions. She emphasized that students, as the future of the country and society, should make honesty, merit and responsibility fundamental principles of their personal and professional lives.
Principal Chandka Medical College Professor Dr. Shahid Hussain Soomro and Programme Focal Person Dr. Masood Ahmed Qureshi also addressed the gathering.Professor Saleh Channa, Professor Qaimuddin Shaikh, Professor Nazir Ahmed Buriro, Professor Ali Haider Baloch, Dr. Mukesh Kumar, faculty members, officers and a large number of students from various colleges and institutes of the University attended the programme.
