Six killed, two injured in rain-related incidents across KP: PDMA
PESHAWAR, Jul 20 (APP):At least six people lost their lives and two others sustained injuries in separate rain-related incidents during the last 24 hours as heavy monsoon rains and flash floods affected parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said on Monday.
According to the PDMA, the casualties occurred after roofs and walls of houses collapsed in different districts. The deceased included three men and three children, while the injured comprised one woman and one child.
The authority said three houses were damaged in the incidents, including one that was completely destroyed and two that suffered partial damage. The affected districts include Khyber, Mardan, Mansehra and Kurram.
PDMA said it was coordinating with Rescue 1122, district administrations and other relevant departments, while relief and rescue operations were underway in the affected areas.
The authority has directed the district administrations to expedite relief activities and ensure the early provision of assistance and relief goods to the affected families.
According to the PDMA, water levels and flow in the province’s rivers and streams remain within normal limits despite the ongoing rainfall.
The authority urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from vulnerable tourist destinations during the current weather conditions and strictly follow official weather advisories and alerts.
PDMA’s Emergency Operations Centre remains fully operational, and citizens have been advised to report emergencies or seek weather-related information through the toll-free helpline 1700.
