KARACHI, Jul 23 (APP):A delegation of Sindh Women Bar Association, led by President Darakhshan Jahan visited Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) on Wednesday and met with Chancellor Akbar Ali Khan. Matters of mutual interest specially related to women were discussed in the meeting.
President Sindh Women Bar Association, Darakhshan Jahan, said that it is not only an honor but also an important responsibility for her to lead the movement for justice, dignity, and equal representation of women in the legal profession. She said that women’s services are not acknowledged in our society.
Appreciating the “Safewear – Smart Wearable Security Device” developed for the protection of women, Darakhshan Jahan said that the device, developed by Bisma Asif, a student of the Software Engineering Department at Sir Syed University, is an excellent creative effort aimed at providing immediate help to women in case of any unexpected danger. Darakhshan Jahan also promised to introduce this device to her member women lawyers.
Chancellor of Sir Syed University, Muhammad Akbar Ali Khan said that laws are effective only if they are implemented properly. Legislation is very important, but a change in the men’s mindset is also necessary so that they can recognize social and economic realities in a global context.
On this occasion, Convener of the Harassment Committee of Sir Syed University and Aligarh Institute of Technology, Erum Akbar Ali Khan also spoke on the occasion.
The event was attended by the Convenor AIT, Mohsin Kazim, Registrar Cdre. (r) Syed Sarfraz Ali, Dean Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amir, Dr. Muhammad Naseem, Dr. Kashif Sheikh, Director Coordination Jahangir Ehsan, Manager ORIC, Huma Ahmed, and others.
At the end of the event, Chancellor SSUET, Akbar Ali Khan, presented the university’s Souvenir to the President of Sindh Women Bar Association, Darakhshan Jahan. He also gave her the most popular book ‘Rawayat Aligarh’ penned by distinguished writer and intellectual Muhammad Zakir Ali Khan.
