KARACHI, Dec 02 (APP): The Provincial Assembly of Sindh on Tuesday was informed about the performance of Labour and Human Resources Department.
The session of the Assembly commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran and Naat Sharif with the Speaker in the chair.
The questions and answers session was held regarding the labour and human resources department.
While speaking on the floor of the house, Sindh Senior Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, said the Sindh government supported the promotion of Cricket in cities across the province, including Hyderabad.
He said the government had already written several letters to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and made its position clear on hosting matches at Niaz Stadium.
The Senior Minister said that Hyderabad Stadium has its own identity and has hosted matches in the past.
Memon said that every district should have quality stadiums so young players could get opportunities and new talent could emerge.
He asked MQM-Pakistan MPA to withdraw his privilege motion, as the house had already supported his resolution.
Referring to the completion of the new stadium in Sukkur, he said that the government wants regular matches to be held there as well.
The Senior Minister opposed the resolution calling for a public holiday on the death anniversary of Liaquat Ali Khan and said the provincial government would write to the federation on the matter.
He said Liaquat Ali Khan was a national leader and the decision should be made at the federal level.
He further said that MQM-Pakistan was part of the federal government, so it should raise the issue in the National Assembly or the Cabinet and it should present the resolution in the National Assembly regarding the public holiday on Liaquat Ali Khan’s death anniversary and the Sindh government would support it.
Sindh Minister for Labour, Human Resources Saeed Ghani, speaking on the floor of the Assembly in response to a private resolution moved by Opposition member Shabbir Qureshi, clarified that the provincial government was fully bound to implement the judiciary’s decision regarding the restriction on age limit for government jobs.
He stressed that candidates who had already passed recruitment tests conducted by IBA Sukkur before the court’s ruling would not be affected by the new age bar, as the Sindh Cabinet had decided to exempt them.
He said that Sindh had originally granted a 15-year age relaxation for government jobs, which remained in place for several years.
Ghani urged the mover of the resolution not to press it further, saying that the government had already provided every possible relief. After the Minister’s detailed explanation, MPA Shabbir Qureshi withdrew the resolution.
