ATTOCK, Nov 7 (APP): Thousands of Sikh pilgrims, including over 2,100 from India, gathered at Gurdwara Panja Sahib in Hassanabdal to celebrate the 556th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism.
According to APP correspondent, the Gurdwara was decorated with flowers, flags, banners, and posters, creating a festive atmosphere.
Pilgrims from around the world, including the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada, arrived to participate in the celebrations.
Celebrations began early in the morning, with pilgrims taking a bath in the holy pond and participating in various religious practices, including Akhand Paath, Matha Tekna, and Shabad Kirtan.
The pilgrims also expressed their gratitude towards the government of Pakistan for the arrangements made to facilitate their visit. The district administration, in collaboration with the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) and the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (PSGPC), made elaborate arrangements to ensure the pilgrims’ stay in Hassanabdal was comfortable.
Strict security measures were adopted to ensure the safety of the pilgrims, with over 3,000 policemen deployed to provide foolproof security.
All roads leading to the Gurdwara were cordoned off by law enforcement agencies, police, Elite Force, and other officials.
Markets and bazaars were also closed as part of the security measures, demonstrating the authorities’ commitment to maintaining a secure environment for the pilgrims.
Deputy Commissioner Attock Rao Atif Raza visited the Gurdwara to monitor the boarding, lodging, and other facilities for the Sikh pilgrims.
Pilgrims were able to perform their religious rituals without any issues, and they appreciated the arrangements made by the authorities.
Celebrations at Gurdwara Panja Sahib were a testament to the strong ties between Pakistan and the Sikh community worldwide.
