LAHORE, Oct 09 (APP):The concluding ceremonies marking the 491st birth anniversary of the fourth Sikh Guru, Guru Ram Das Ji, were held with great reverence and devotion at his Janam Asthan (birthplace) located in Chuna Mandi, Lahore.
Sikh pilgrims from across Pakistan participated in the celebrations, which were organised by the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) in collaboration with the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC).
Provincial Minister and President of PSGPC, Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, Additional Secretary Shrines, ETPB Nasir Mushtaq, member PSGPC Dr. Mampal Singh, Secretary General, PSGPC Sukwant Kaur and former President PSGPC Sardar Bishan Singh attended the ceremony.
According to the ETPB spokesman, special arrangements for accommodation, meals and medical care were made free of charge for the visiting pilgrims. Strict security protocols were in place throughout the event to ensure the safety of the participants.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Ramesh Singh Arora said, “Sikhs have a deep and spiritual bond with their Guru’s birthplace in Pakistan. We are grateful to the federal government and the ETPB for their arrangements and services.”
He also expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Federal Minister Sardar Muhammad Yousaf for their support.
Arora emphasised that the ETPB plays a vital role in promoting interfaith harmony in Pakistan through such initiatives.
Additional Secretary Shrines, ETPB Nasir Mushtaq, who supervised the overall arrangements, said that high-standard facilities were provided for the devotees and that the ETPB team remained actively engaged day and night to ensure smooth management of the event.
He further emphasised the close coordination with security agencies and the implementation of foolproof security measures. “Cleanliness, lighting, medical services and langar (free communal meals) were organised in an exemplary manner at the Janam Asthan,” he added.
Nasir reiterated, “Serving Sikh pilgrims is an honor for us. All departments worked in mutual cooperation to ensure the success of the celebrations.”
