Seven arrested with fake pesticides of worth Rs 3.1m

MULTAN, Jul 15 (APP):In a major crackdown against counterfeit agricultural inputs, the Agriculture department of Punjab has uncovered an illegal pesticide manufacturing facility in Multan, seizing over Rs. 3.1 million worth of fake pesticides and arresting seven individuals during raid.
Deputy Director Pesticides Dr. Abdul Rauf led the operation with his inspection team, following the special directives of Punjab Minister for Agriculture Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, who has enforced a strict zero-tolerance policy on fake pesticides across the province.
During the operation, officials raided an unauthorized facility involved in the illegal production and packaging of counterfeit pesticides. A total of 1,940 kilograms of fake pesticides, along with a truck loaded with counterfeit stock, packaging material, and raw ingredients, were recovered. The seized items were handed over to local police.
According to officials, the counterfeit products were being manufactured under fake registration numbers.  Seven individuals were apprehended at the site while actively producing the illegal substances. Samples have been sent to the laboratory for further analysis.
An official complaint was lodged at Qadirpur Raan Police Station for legal proceedings.
