Seraiki Culture Day and Family Foods Festival held at Multan Tea House

MULTAN, Jan 01 (APP):The Seraiki Culture Day was celebrated with a Family Foods Festival, showcasing the rich cuisine and culture of the Seraiki region at the Multan Tea House on Thursday.
The event attracted a large crowd from various walks of life, celebrating the traditions of southern Punjab.
Guests were treated to a vibrant array of traditional Seraiki dishes, including sohbat, spinach and gandlay greens, methi greens, rice bread, maize bread, millet luddo, moringa tea, missi roti, doli roti, busri, churi made with clarified butter and sugar, Seraiki pulao, barray paye, siri paye, ojhri, and lentil dishes like chickpea and mung dal. Also featured were a variety of pickles, curries, vermicelli prepared with milk and sugar, kheer vermicelli, and traditional sweets such as jiwaray, sohanjharan, and dodhay. Lassi, yogurt, chutneys, carrot halwa, and semolina-based desserts were also served.
Beyond the culinary delights, the festival highlighted the Seraiki cultural heritage, with displays of ajrak, live performances of traditional jhummar dance, and cultural exhibitions. The event was designed to immerse visitors in the Seraiki identity, showcasing the region’s vibrant traditions and rich history.
Stalls offering traditional Seraiki dresses, books, khusa, and jewellery added to the cultural experience.
The festival was organised by the Seraikistan Qoumi Council in collaboration with FDO. As a gesture of goodwill, Seraiki ajraks were presented to guests at the conclusion of the event.
