SUKKUR, Jul 25 (APP):SEPCO Sukkur’s Operation Director, Manzoor Soomro on Thursday said that over 3000 letters were issued for FIR against electricity thieves, disconnected over 12,000 illegal connection, arrested of numerous electricity thieves.
He announced that on the instructions of Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, a crackdown on electricity theft was conducted in June and July.
He said that a new electricity system was introduced in various sub-divisions and large meters were installed. Inquiries are ongoing against corrupt SEPCO officials, who will face suspension and punishment upon completion, he added.
Soomro said that open Kachehri sessions are being held to resolve citizen complaints and address billing issues, adding that relief is being offered to consumers who have used excess electricity units, and installment plans are available for those needing assistance, he added.
Soomro urged citizens to support SEPCO in preventing electricity theft and paying bills, promising maximum relief and an end to load shedding.
