LODHRAN, Jul 11 (APP):In observance of World Population Day, the Punjab Health and Population Welfare Department organised a seminar aimed at raising awareness about the challenges posed by rapid population growth in Pakistan.
Speaking at the event, District Population Welfare Officer Lodhran Tariq Mahmood Sukhera said that Pakistan’s rapidly increasing population was creating a serious imbalance between resources and public needs. “It is crucial that we, as a society, collectively recognise the severity of the issue and work together towards building a sustainable and developed future,” he stated.
Samira Sattar, Regional Coordinator of the PODA Organisation (Multan), provided an overview of the organisation’s ongoing initiatives. She stressed that child marriages were a criminal offense under the law.
Deputy District Officer Dr Ramla Ajmal highlighted the role of the youth, stating, “Our young generation was the asset of the country. Their proper guidance and training are essential for national progress.”
Renowned religious scholar Qari Yasin also spoke and highlighted the parents role in the upbringing and education of their children.
General Secretary District Bar Association also addressed the gathering.
The seminar was well-attended by a diverse audience including representatives from the education and health sectors, legal professionals, journalists, civil society members, and local residents.
