Section 144 imposed across Rawalpindi division, Murree as security threats rise

RAWALPINDI, Oct 10 (APP):District authorities across the division have enforced widespread security restrictions and administrative measures to safeguard critical infrastructure and preserve public order amid heightened security threats and potential political disruptions across the region.
According to the notification, Section 144 has been  imposed in Rawalpindi and Murree for 30 days to maintain public order
The notifications, separately issued by Rawaand Murree administrations, strictly prohibit public assemblies, sit-ins, rallies, processions, demonstrations, gatherings of five or more persons, brandishing of arms, inflammatory or hatred speeches, unauthorized drone operations, and attempts to breach police movement restrictions across the district.
Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Captain (R) Nadeem Nasir directed all concerned departments and law enforcement agencies to ensure strict implementation of the order to prevent any breach of public peace.
In a concurrent administrative measure, Deputy Commissioner Murree Agha Zaheer Abbas Sherazi also imposed Section 144 across the territorial limits of Murree District for a 30-day period from October 10 to November 8, 2026.
Acting on intelligence reports from the District Intelligence Committee (DIC) regarding imminent security risks surrounding critical infrastructure and sensitive installations, the Murree administration banned all public assemblies, rallies, pillion riding, weapon displays, and drone usage to protect citizens and maintain public order.
