RAWALPINDI, Oct 09 (APP):Section 144 has been enforced in Rawalpindi to maintain law and order, while City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani on Thursday warned that violent acts under the guise of protests would not be tolerated.

Accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations, SSP Investigation, divisional superintendents of police (SPs) and sub-divisional police officers (SDPOs), the CPO visited various parts of the city to review the security arrangements and issued directives to the officers concerned.
He instructed senior officers to personally monitor security arrangements across the garrison city and ensure full compliance with Section 144. “No one will be allowed to take the law into their own hands, and any activity disturbing peace, obstructing traffic or causing inconvenience to citizens will be dealt with firmly,” he asserted.
The CPO said police personnel had been deployed at all important locations, while the Safe City cameras and other surveillance systems were being used for continuous monitoring. He added that mobile patrols, Dolphin Force and Elite Force teams were conducting regular rounds across the city.
Earlier, while chairing a meeting to review the overall law and order situation, CPO Hamdani directed officers to ensure peace, strict enforcement of the law and close coordination among all units.
“The Rawalpindi Police are fully prepared and determined to handle any situation. Any assault on citizens, property, or law enforcement personnel will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” he affirmed, reiterating his resolve to uphold the rule of law at all costs.
Meanwhile, in view of the law and order situation in the twin cities, the Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi will remain closed on Friday.
