Secretary Health launches digital system to strengthen drug supply in Balochistan

QUETTA, Nov 06 (APP):In a decisive move to improve healthcare delivery across Balochistan, Health Secretary Dawood Khan Khilji conducted a comprehensive review of the province’s medical infrastructure, including a visit to the Government Medical Store Depot (MSD) and a high-level meeting focused on primary care and accountability.
Accompanied by Special Secretary Health Shehak Baloch and senior officials, Secretary Dawood Khilji received a detailed briefing from Additional Director Mir Yousuf Khan on the current status of drug distribution.
Officials reported that 80 percent of required medicines for the current fiscal year have already been distributed across all districts, with the remaining 20 percent scheduled for immediate dispatch.
The Secretary directed urgent hiring of a Procurement Specialist and other vacant positions at MSD to boost operational capacity.
He assured that funds would be allocated for overtime compensation for Class-IV staff and their supervisors, along with the provision of transport vehicles to streamline the drug supply chain.
Secretary Health Dawood Khilji inaugurated a modern software system designed to enhance transparency and ensure timely medicine distribution throughout the province.
Following the MSD visit, Secretary Dawood Khilji chaired a strategic session at the Balochistan Human Capital Investment Project (Health), attended by key officials including Special Secretary Shehak Baloch.
The meeting covered updates on Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health (MNCH) services, essential medicine availability, doctor deployment, EPI site functionality, and vaccination coverage.
The Secretary emphasized the need for specialist doctor deployment, consistent medicine supply, and overall improvement of basic health services across hospitals and health centers.
He issued a directive for the immediate functionality of labour rooms in all provincial hospitals.
 Stressing the life-saving nature of healthcare services, Secretary Health declared that no leniency would be tolerated in cases of negligence or dereliction of duty.
