CHINIOT, Oct 22 (APP):The secretary of the District Regional Transport Authority Chiniot has warned the Dumper Association that strict action will be taken against dumpers entering Chiniot district for violating axle load/limits. Secretary DRTA Umar Ali, while exclusively talking to AP, said that Deputy Commissioner Safiullah Gondal has ordered immediate necessary action regarding this important matter, and the Dumpers Association has been informed in this regard.
He further said that dumpers coming from Sargodha and passing through Chiniot for different districts are violating the prescribed axle load limit. According to the law, the axle load allowed for 10 wheels is 27.5 tons, while many dumpers are carrying up to 60 tons, which is a serious violation of transport and road safety regulations.
According to him, this excessive loading is causing severe damage to newly constructed and repaired roads within the Chiniot district, resulting in heavy damage to public infrastructure. It is hereby directed that all dumper owners and drivers should ensure strict compliance with the axle load limit. From tonight, no dumper in Chiniot will be allowed to enter the Chiniot district in violation of the axle load restriction, and the excess load will be unloaded on the spot, or the vehicle will be returned to Sargodha.
The Dumpers Association should cooperate with the Transport Authority to convey this message to all concerned drivers and owners to ensure the safe condition of the district roads so that no action is taken. The Secretary of DRTA further stressed that Punjab Highway Patrol Police and Secretary of RTA have issued challans to 670 dumpers for overloading since October 1 and imposed fines of more than Rs. 485,000.
