Second phase of polio eradication campaign in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa launched

PESHAWAR, Apr 08 (APP):Provincial Minister for Health, Khaliq Ur Rehman, formally launched the second phase of current year’s polio eradication campaign in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by administering polio drops to children here on Wednesday.
On this occasion, the Health Minister stated that a target has been set to vaccinate 6.5 million children across the province during the second phase of the campaign.
He added that over 35,500 polio teams have been deployed to ensure door-to-door vaccination of children. The Minister highlighted that strict security arrangements have been put in place for the campaign, with more than 50,000 security personnel deployed to support and protect the polio teams, ensuring smooth execution of the drive.
He reaffirmed that the government is fully committed to making the province completely polio-free. He expressed satisfaction that not a single case of polio has been reported so far this year, reflecting the effectiveness of the government’s strategy.
The Health Minister noted that under the leadership of Chief Secretary, Shahab Ali Shah, the polio eradication program is successfully achieving its targets and moving in the right direction.
He urged parents, teachers, religious scholars, and all segments of society to fully cooperate with polio teams and ensure that their children receive polio drops, contributing to this national cause.
On conclusion, the Minister expressed optimism that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will not only maintain its polio-free status but will also emerge as a leading province in the healthcare sector.
