KARACHI, Dec 23 (APP):The Press Information Department (PID), in collaboration with Pakistan Television (PTV), organized a screening of the abridged version of the classic PTV drama “Jinnah Se Quaid” at the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST) to promote historical awareness and national consciousness among youth.
The event was coordinated by Aneeqa in collaboration with the President, SZABIST, and was attended by students, faculty members, and representatives from PID and PTV.
Speaking on the occasion, the President SZABIST emphasized the importance of such initiatives, stating, “Our youth must understand the sacrifices, vision, and struggle that led to the independence of Pakistan.” He added that initiatives like this help bridge the gap between textbooks and lived history by presenting our freedom movement through impactful storytelling.
Director General PID, Erum Tanveer, highlighted the significance of connecting with youth through credible narratives, saying, “Engaging young audiences through historical storytelling is essential for building a strong national narrative.” She added, “PTV’s classic dramas serve as an effective medium to counter misinformation and disinformation by presenting factual and culturally rooted content.” She further noted, “Such collaborations with academic institutions allow us to reach youth directly and reinforce awareness about Pakistan’s history and founding ideals.”
Speaking on behalf of Pakistan Television, Ali Asghar stated that the PTV has a rich legacy of producing content that reflects Pakistan’s history, values, and identity. He added, “Through initiatives like ‘Jinnah Se Quaid,’ we aim to reconnect younger generations with the formative moments of our national journey.”
The screening was followed by an interactive discussion, during which students expressed keen interest and provided positive feedback, appreciating the initiative for making history relatable and engaging. Participants acknowledged that the dramatized presentation helped them better understand the journey from colonial rule to independence.
PID Karachi, in collaboration with PTV and academic institutions, continues its efforts to promote historical literacy, strengthen national identity, and engage youth through meaningful and informed storytelling.
