PESHAWAR, Aug 26 (APP): Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) demanded the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government that implementation of two percent Structural Development Cess tax on export was unjust and should be withdrawn.
Addressing a press conference here at Sarhad Chamber on Monday, flanked by leading businessmen of KP, President SCCI, Faud Ishaq said the provincial government took this decision in much haste without even consulting business community.
He said already the trading community was overburdened under different kind of taxes.
President SCCI said if KP government did not rescind this decision, the export would be shifted to other provinces.
Faud Ishaq said since imposition of Structural Development Cess on August 23, export have been stopped from airport and exporters are in a state of confusion over enforcement of heavy levy on value of their consignments.
The views of SCCI president were also supported by Chairman All Pakistan Commercial Exporters Association (APCEA), Mushtaq Ahmad who said majority of gemstone dealers and exporters of different products in KP are in a fix over sudden announcement of the cess and its forthwith implementation.
A leading businessman, Khalid Sultan said business community is also paying professional tax to KP government which has been increased from Rs.10,000 to Rs. 30,000 annually.
