NAWABSHAH, Feb 24 (APP):The Department of Sindhi at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University, Shaheed Benazirabad organized an impressive intellectual and academic competition for male and female students on the topic of Sindhi Folk Poetry.
The competition featured riddles, proverbs, sayings, and idiomatic expressions. The primary objective of the event was to promote students’ academic awareness of Sindhi folk literature, enhance their intellectual abilities, and cultivate a spirit of research and critical thinking.
The program was held under the special directives of Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Madad Ali Shah and Dean Professor Dr. Tayyaba Zarif.
Addressing the participants, Chairman of the Department of Sindhi Dr. Ameer Ali Shah, Dr. Phool Sunder Meghwar, Dr. Sikandar Sagar, Mr. Khalid Sahil Keryo, and other distinguished speakers emphasized that Sindhi folk literature is an integral part of our civilization, identity, and intellectual heritage.
The speakers highlighted that such academic activities play a vital role in character building and help students develop a strong connection with their language, literature, and culture. They further stated that folk poetry is not merely a source of entertainment but a reflection of centuries-old wisdom, social values, and collective consciousness. Students were encouraged to actively engage in research and study to preserve this valuable treasure of Sindhi literature.
A large number of students enthusiastically participated in the competition and demonstrated outstanding performance. At the conclusion of the event, prizes and certificates of appreciation were distributed among the successful participants. The ceremony ended in a pleasant and inspiring atmosphere.
