HYDERABAD, Nov 04 (APP):The Youth Development Center of Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) Tandojam, in collaboration with Meezan Bank Limited, organized an awareness program on Islamic Banking and Career Opportunities for SAU graduates.
The initiative aimed to deepen students’ understanding of Shariah-compliant banking principles and introduce them to emerging career and internship avenues within Pakistan’s rapidly growing Islamic finance industry.
According to a press release issued here on Tuesday, the event brought together Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments, senior professors, PARC officials, faculty members, students and representatives from the business community of Tandojam alongside officials from Meezan Bank.
In his welcome address, Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Aijaz Ali Khooharo emphasized the importance of connecting classroom learning with industry practices.
“Such collaborations bridge the gap between academia and industry, empowering our students to address real-world challenges through ethical and professional approaches,” Dr. Khooharo noted. “Our graduates must seize these opportunities to contribute meaningfully to the country’s economic and moral development.”
Syed Fida Hussain Shah, Director Finance, SAU lauded the contributions of the banking sector to national development, particularly highlighting Islamic banking’s role in fostering equitable and inclusive growth. He also proposed the installation of an ATM booth at the SAU campus to strengthen institutional collaboration with Meezan Bank.
Representing Meezan Bank, the area manager Farhan Ali Memon discussed the bank’s youth-centered initiatives, stating that Meezan Bank’s internship and management trainee programs were tailored to prepare young graduates, especially from institutions like SAU, with the skills, ethics and leadership needed in the evolving financial landscape.
The session was attended by scholars and faculty including Prof. Dr. Zaheeruddin Mirani, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Sarki, Prof. Allah Wadhayo Gandahi, Prof. Dr. Khadim Hussain Wagan, Prof. Dr. Abdul Latif Bhutto, Prof. Dr. Mujtaba Khushk, Prof. Dr. Bhai Khan Solangi as well as officials from the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC).
