HYDERABAD, Nov 25 (APP):To provide major relief for students, researchers and residents, the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) on Tuesday formally declared the Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) Tandojam and its residential colony as zero load-shedding zones. The announcement was made by HESCO CEO Faizullah Dahri during a dignified ceremony held at the Dr A.M Shaikh Auditorium of the university.
According to a statement issued by the SAU spokesperson Gul Sher Lochi, presiding over the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor Engr Prof Dr Altaf Ali Siyal said that prolonged and unannounced power outages had been undermining academic delivery and disrupting vital research operations. He noted that over 4,500 hostel students and numerous laboratory research samples were regularly affected by electricity interruptions.
“With HESCO’s support, the transition to zero load-shedding will significantly reduce student complaints,” the Vice Chancellor said, adding that a dedicated committee would be formed to streamline coordination and resolve electricity-related matters on campus.
Addressing the gathering, the HESCO Chief Faizullah Dahri announced that from today, 18 feeders across Hyderabad including the SAU feeder, would remain completely load-shedding free. He said HESCO was managing its zero load-shedding feeders “more efficiently than K-Electric”, but cautioned that sustaining uninterrupted power supply required stronger HESCO–community partnerships. He underscored that non-compliance with mutually agreed ethical commitments could jeopardize the continuity of zero load-shedding.
HESCO Chief Operating Officer (COO) Aijaz Ahmed Shaikh informed the audience that the SAU feeder was the first feeder of Tando Allahyar to be officially declared load-shedding free, adding that residents of the designated areas had also been provided with free electricity meters.
Speakers including Zulfiqar Ali Memon, Suhail Shaikh, XEN Abdul Rab Memon, Akhlaque Ahmed Memon, Kamran Ahmed and others also addressed the ceremony.
Later, an ethical MoU aimed at ensuring improved electricity management in the future was signed. SAU was represented by Dr Abdul Latif Bhutto and Mir Muhammad Khushk, while HESCO was represented by Suhail Ahmed Sheikh and Abdul Rab Memon. The event concluded with the presentation of honorary shields to HESCO officials.
