SARGODHA, Sep 04 (APP):The University of Sargodha on Thursday set up a relief camp to support families affected by devastating floods across Punjab.
The camp was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, accompanied by Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Masood Sarwar Awan, Punjab Bar Council member Malik Ghulam Abbas Niswana Advocate, Director Student Affairs Dr. Mehmood-ul-Hassan, along with deans, directors, faculty members, and a large number of students.
Faculty, staff, and students contributed generously, with the Vice Chancellor himself making a personal donation. Speaking at the inauguration, Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas emphasized that millions of displaced people urgently need food, shelter, and medical assistance. He urged the university community and citizens to respond with compassion and solidarity.
“It is our collective responsibility to ensure immediate relief and long-term rehabilitation for the affected families,” he said. He also underlined Pakistan’s growing vulnerability to climate change, stressing that the recent floods are a stark reminder of the urgent need for sustainable environmental action. Relief work, he added, must go hand-in-hand with forward-looking policies to safeguard future generations.
Meanwhile, as part of Rahmatul-lil-Alameen Week celebrations, the University of Sargodha also organised a Mehfil-e-Milad-Mustafa. The gathering was attended by the Vice Chancellor, Pro Vice Chancellor, faculty, administrators, and students in large numbers.
Addressing the audience, Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas said that the noble teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) center on peace, harmony, justice, and human dignity. He urged students to embody values of respect, tolerance, and cooperation as a reflection of the Prophet’s (PBUH) message.
Renowned scholar Prof. Dr. Feroz-ud-Din Shah also addressed the gathering, noting that the blessed life of the Prophet (PBUH) serves as a complete code of conduct for humanity. He reminded students to seek knowledge responsibly and verify information before sharing it, warning that unchecked social media content fuels division and unrest, contrary to the Prophet’s (PBUH) teachings of unity and truthfulness.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of cash prizes and certificates among winners of naat, qiraat, and speech competitions held under the week-long celebrations.
