QUETTA, Feb 13 (APP):The Balochistan Minister for Industries and Commerce, Sardar Kohyar Domki on Thursday inaugurated the Sibi Livestock and Camel Mela 2025 in a grand ceremony attended by a large number of people, including Provincial Minister for Livestock, Sardar Faisal Jamali, tribal elders, officials of district administration, and civil societies.
During the opening ceremony, school students performed national songs and vibrant cultural programs along with regional dance performances and traditional spear-throwing, which captivated the audience.
The event to be held from February 13 to February 17, is all set to attract visitors, tourists, enthusiasts and livestock traders from across the country.
The five-day long annual ‘Sibi Mela’, a grand historical festival would be decorated with all colors of national unity, regional culture and peace to put the local culture on display, in addition to rear and exotic species of animals.
The Frontier Corps of Balochistan, along with special bands from the Balochistan Education Commission and students, paid a tribute to the chief guest with a salute.
Speaking at the event, Sardar Kohyar Domki emphasized that the Sibi Mela holds significant cultural heritage and it closely tied to the local economy. He reaffirmed that the provincial government, under the leadership of Chief Minister (CM) Mir Sarfaz Bugti, is committed to eliminate poverty, maintain peace, and enhance development process for the people of Balochistan.
The Minister also announced that a Beef Research Center would soon be established in Sibi. Additionally, the Union Council of Talli would be upgraded to a Town Committee.
In a major development, the provincial government, at the special request of CM Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has increased the annual subsidy for livestock farmers from 1.1 million to 3 million rupees. The subsidy for the past three years will also be distributed this year.
Sardar Kohyar Domki also revealed that the provincial government will soon present a master plan for the development of Sibi. He expressed his gratitude to the people of Sibi for their enthusiastic participation in the fair.
Later, the provincial minister inaugurated the agricultural and industrial exhibition, showcasing the region’s diverse products and innovations and Sardar Kohyar Domki distributed prizes for outstanding performances during the opening ceremony.
This year’s Sibi Mela promises to be a landmark event in Balochistan’s cultural and economic landscape.
