Sanitation workers honoured on World Sanitation Day

RAWALPINDI, Apr 01 (APP):Tahira Aurangzeb, MNA and senior PML N leader has said that World Sanitation Day on 1st April is an occasion to pay tribute to the dedication and hard work of sanitation workers who play a vital role in protecting public health and the environment.
Speaking at a ceremony held at the Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi (MCR), office to mark World Sanitation Day, she said the government and administration are committed to taking every possible step for the rights and better working conditions of sanitation workers.
Tahira Aurangzeb stressed that today’s ceremony is not only a tribute but also a message that the hard work of sanitation workers must not be ignored.
Sardar Muhammad Naseem Khan, Raja Muhammad Hanif, Haji Parvez Khan, Shazia Rizwan MPA, Javed Anwar Mughal, Raahat Qudusi, Raja Haroon and Changez Bhatti also spoke on the occasion and paid tribute to the sanitation workers. They called for providing them safe working conditions, reasonable benefits and better facilities.
Sanitation workers were presented with flowers, gifts and a guard of honour at the end of the ceremony, to honour diligence and dedication to their duties.
The event was also attended by members of Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) Board of Directors including Javed Anwar Mughal and Raahat Qudusi, RWMC Manager Operations District Rawalpindi Amir Younas Naik, President Municipal Labour Union Raja Haroon, Chairman Changez Bhatti and a large number of union officials, officers and sanitation workers.
