SALU Seminar urges youth to embrace Iqbal’s timeless message of courage, self-discovery

SUKKUR, Nov 10 (APP):Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) on Monday hosted a seminar on “Iqbal’s Message to the Youth”, organised by the Department of Pakistan Studies, urging students to draw inspiration from Allama Iqbal’s philosophy of self-realisation, courage, and societal contribution. The event marked Iqbal Day and drew a large crowd of students, faculty, and scholars.
In his presidential address, Vice Chancellor (VC), Professor Dr Yousuf Khushk emphasised that honouring Iqbal means living his ideals. We have a great opportunity to explore Iqbal’s thoughts his poetry linked nations, he said, highlighting the poet’s global legacy from Iran hailing him as a national poet to Heidelberg University preserving his former residence in Germany. Dr Khushk urged students to harness education and tech to lead Pakistan forward.
Dean of Social Sciences Prof Dr Naveed Ahmed Shaikh hailed Iqbal as Musawwir-e-Pakistan (Architect of Pakistan), crediting him for inspiring the creation of the homeland. Prof Dr Akhtiar Ali Ghumro (Institute of Commerce) exhorted attendees to embody khuddar (self-respect) and principled living.
Keynote speaker Dr Tariq Bin Umar spotlighted Iqbal’s faith in youth power: For him, you can change destiny, write your own fate.” With 45% of Pakistan’s population under 25, he framed Iqbal’s call as a blueprint for harnessing potential.
Dr Inayatullah Bhatti welcomed guests and praised the multidisciplinary Department of Pakistan Studies for organising the tribute. Dr Salahuddin Abro concluded proceedings by stressing national unity and perseverance – core to Iqbal’s vision.
The seminar ended with a call to action.
