MUZAFFARGARH , Jul 23 (APP):The Safe City Project in Muzaffargarh is not only aiding in crime control but also contributing to safer travel for citizens, according to officials during a media briefing on the project’s progress.
District Manager of the Safe City Project Muzaffargarh, Rizwan Haider, Assistant Manager Nabeel Safdar, and Senior Communication Officer briefed journalists, highlighting the project’s key role in law enforcement and traffic regulation. They urged citizens to respect traffic laws and avoid violations to prevent receiving e-challans (electronic fines).
Officials informed that violations such as not wearing seat belts or helmets are now being monitored through Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered surveillance cameras, with automatic e-challans issued to offenders. They emphasized that the Rs. 2,000 fine for not wearing a helmet is not aimed at revenue generation but at ensuring public safety and promoting the habit of wearing helmets, especially considering that motorcycles are the most commonly used mode of transport and a leading cause of fatal accidents in the region.
The Safe City team also noted the project’s effectiveness in supporting the police in identifying and arresting several criminals and robbers through its network of surveillance cameras. Citizens can also approach the Safe City office to obtain video evidence in support of criminal investigations by bringing their FIR and investigating officer.
In case of wrongful issuance of e-challans, citizens have been advised to contact the Safe City team by emailing a copy of the challan and related complaint to etclhr@psca.gop.pk. Upon verification, incorrect fines will be promptly canceled.
Allah Dad Javed, another officer from the project, shared that surveillance is also being used to monitor suspicious individuals to prevent potential acts of terrorism or violence. The project has also played a crucial role in resolving several high-profile cases in recent weeks by tracing suspects swiftly through integrated camera systems and immediate coordination with callers on the emergency helpline 15.
The briefing concluded with a Q&A session, where journalists raised various queries regarding the Safe City operations in Muzaffargarh. The project team assured continuous improvement and community collaboration to make the city safer and more law-abiding
