SACM chairs meeting on wheat storage and commodity supply chain

LAHORE, Jul 09 (APP):Special Assistant to Chief Minister (SACM) on Price Control and Commodities Management Salma Butt chaired a high-level meeting to review the status of wheat storage facilities and ensure the smooth functioning of the essential commodities supply chain across Punjab ahead of the monsoon season.
During the meeting, Secretary Price Control Dr Ehsan Bhutta gave a detailed briefing on departmental operations. Director General Food Naveed Shehzad updated the participants on the precautionary measures being taken to protect wheat stocks in vulnerable areas.
SACM Salma Butt directed the DG Food to submit comprehensive details of all vacant warehouses along with their storage capacities in each district. She underscored the importance of proactive monitoring, especially in light of potential flooding, and instructed for uninterrupted oversight of essential commodity supply and demand at the tehsil level.
Secretary Dr Ehsan Bhutta informed that official correspondence, based on the recommendations of the Commodities Management Department, is being issued to relevant commissioners and deputy commissioners to ensure timely administrative actions. He added that the Special Monitoring Unit and the Engineering & Monitoring (E&M) Wing are actively tracking the prices of vegetables, fruits, and pulses at both the local and international levels to maintain price stability in the market.
The meeting was also attended by the DG Food and Cane Commissioner Punjab, and Additional Secretary Commodities Management.
