SABS University Jamshoro holds 3rd senate meeting, Rs 665.506 million budget presented

HYDERABAD, Feb 23 (APP): The Shaheed Allah Buksh Soomro (SABS) University of Art, Design and Heritage, Jamshoro, convened its 3rd meeting of the Senate with a comprehensive agenda aimed at strengthening governance, financial planning, and institutional development. The meeting was chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, SABS University Jamshoro, Prof Dr Arabella Bhutto.
The Senate confirmed the minutes of the 2nd meeting held on August 27, 2024. The house also reviewed and deliberated upon the actions taken on decisions made during the previous Senate meeting, expressing satisfaction over the progress achieved on various administrative and academic matters.
The Senate considered and approved the Consolidated Annual Reports (2020–2025) of the University. The house thoroughly discussed the academic growth, research initiatives, infrastructure development, student achievements, and overall institutional performance during the period. Members appreciated the strides made by the University in promoting art, design, and heritage studies in Sindh.
The Senate also approved the Actual Expenditures for the Financial Year 2023–24, along with the Revised Budget Estimates for 2024–25 and Budget Estimates for 2025–26, amounting to Rs. 665.506 million. The financial approvals reflected the University’s commitment to fiscal responsibility, transparency, and strategic planning to ensure continued academic excellence and infrastructural enhancement.
Another significant agenda item was the nomination of two members of the Senate to serve as members of the Syndicate in accordance with the SABS University Act. The election process was conducted as per statutory requirements, reinforcing democratic and participatory governance within the institution.
On the occasion, the newly established Mosque was inaugurated by the senate member on the seat of Alim, Khalid Mehmood Soomro.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to the Chair, reaffirming the collective resolve of the Senate to further elevate the academic and administrative standards of SABS University Jamshoro.
The meeting was attended by secretary Universities and Boards Department, Government of Sindh, Muhammad Abbas Baloch, Nominee of HEC Islamabad, Sulaiman Ahmed, Member of Sindh Assembly, Fayaz Ahmed Butt, Chairman BISE Hyderabad, Zahid Ali Channar, persons of eminence, Sultana Siddiqui, Dr Noman Ahmed, and Ar. Faryal Sikander, Ar. Marvi Mazhar, Sameera Raja, acting registrar Muhammad Suleman Bhutto and other members of the syndicate, senate and related statutory bodies of the university.
