RAWALPINDI, Feb 28 (APP):The Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) has intensified its anti-litter campaign in Tehsil Gujar Khan as part of the Clean Punjab Programme, carrying out daily sanitation operations to ensure a clean and healthy environment for residents.
Chief Executive Officer of Rawalpindi Waste Management Company, Rana Sajid Safdar, said that manual sweeping, waste collection, cleaning of containers, drains, main roads and inner streets are being conducted regularly, with sanitation workers deployed round the clock across key areas of Gujar Khan.
Citizens have been urged not to dispose of garbage in open spaces or burn waste, and to cooperate with authorities in making Gujar Khan a zero-waste zone.
He said the campaign could not succeed without public cooperation. “The responsibility of maintaining cleanliness rests with all of us. Citizens must work alongside sanitation workers to keep the city clean.”
Sajid added that, as part of the awareness campaign, announcements were being made at bus stands, in streets and at other public places in Rawalpindi to highlight the importance of cleanliness and discourage littering. The initiative aims to foster civic responsibility and preserve the city’s appearance.
In recognition of sanitation arrangements during a cricket league organised by a private school in Rawalpindi, RWMC was presented with an honorary shield. League organisers said the efforts of RWMC workers ensured not only that the cricket ground remained clean but also that players and spectators were able to enjoy the matches in a healthy environment.
