RVFC head meets Livestock minister, discusses joint goals

LAHORE, Jul 07 (APP):Pakistan Army Remount Veterinary and Farm Corps (RVFC) Chief Major General Shahid Mahmood met Punjab Livestock Minister Ashiq Hussain Kirmani here on Sunday.
According to official sources, the minister said cooperation between Livestock Department and the RVFC would continue for meeting joint goals. He said that zones would be made in Punjab in which all animals would be tagged and vaccinated. He said that in Punjab, during two years, 6,000 animals would be tagged.
Major General Shahid Mahmood said that the Centre of Excellence for Bovine Genetics Okara was providing research and training facilities in ‘In vitro embryo’ production and the purpose was to breed embryos of quality cows. He said, “We want to increase country’s meat production and to expand its export to gulf states.”
He said that cooperation of Livestock Department was required to achieve desired goals. He also appreciated allocation of hefty amount for strengthening of livestock sector in the budget 2024-25. He also appreciated ban on sacrificing female animals by the Livestock Department
