QUETTA, Oct 21 (APP): Advisor to Chief Minister for Women Development, Dr. Rubaba Khan Buledi on Tuesday inaugurated Balochistan’s first Anti-Rape Crisis Cell at Civil Sandeman Provincial Hospital Quetta and Bolan Medical Complex Hospital, established with the support of the United Nations Women (UN Women).
Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Rubaba Khan Buledi said that the establishment of Anti-Rape Crisis Cells is a revolutionary step toward the protection of women and children in the province. These centers are designed on modern lines to provide immediate and comprehensive assistance to victims, she added.
She stated that this initiative is part of the Women Development Department’s vision, under the directives of Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti, aimed at eradicating gender-based violence and ensuring prompt access to justice for victims.
Dr. Rubaba emphasized that these cells represent the first integrated system in Balochistan’s history, where medical aid, psychological counseling, legal assistance, and police support would all be provided under one roof.
This step will not only ensure timely help for victims but also make the legal process faster and more effective in such cases, she said, adding that the provincial government firmly believes in taking practical measures to empower and protect women.
Dr. Rubaba extended special thanks to UN Women for their technical and administrative support in establishing these centers.
Expressing her commitment, she announced that similar centers would be established in other districts of Balochistan to ensure timely help and justice for women and children across the province.
She reaffirmed that the provincial government remains dedicated to addressing women’s issues, protecting their dignity, and promoting gender equality at all levels.
The inaugural ceremony was also attended by representatives from the Health Department, civil society, and the United Nations, who hailed this initiative as a milestone in advancing women’s protection in Balochistan.
