RTO discards non-duty-paid cigarettes

Regional Tax Office Sargodha organised a ceremony to dispose of illegal and non-duty paid cigarettes worth approximately Rs. 587.5 million as part of Federal Board of Revenue efforts to curb illicit trade, combat tax evasion, and protect national revenue.

SARGODHA, May 08 (APP):Regional Tax Office (RTO) Sargodha organised a ceremony for discarding illegal and non-duty paid cigarettes as part of the Federal Board of Revenue’s continued efforts to curb illicit trade and ensure tax compliance.
During the operation, a total of 6,710 cartons of illegal cigarettes worth approximately Rs. 587.5 million were disposed, involving government duty and taxes amounting to approximately Rs. 428 million.
Senior officers of the Inland Revenue Service, representatives of law enforcement agencies, and officers from various government departments attended the ceremony.
The Chief Commissioner, RTO Sargodha, reiterated FBR’s commitment to strict enforcement against tax evasion, counterfeit products, and illegal trade activities, emphasizing that such actions are essential for protecting national revenue and ensuring fair business practices
