FAISALABAD, Oct 08 (APP):The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) has claimed imposed a fine of Rs.316.5 million on 2548 electricity thieves caught during last month.
FESCO spokesman Tahir Sheikh said here on Sunday that it had launched a vigorous anti-theft drive and during 30 days the company caught 2548 power pilferers from its eight districts.
The company had imposed a total fine of Rs.316.5 million on the pilferers under the head of detection units of 6.994 million in addition to getting Rs.146.2 million recovered from them.
The FESCO also lodged cases against 2480 accused whereas the police had arrested 2024 electricity thieves so far, he added.
Giving further details, he said that FESCO teams continued checking of power pilferage round the clock and caught 40 electricity thieves during last 24 hours who were stealing electricity through various modes including direct supply.
The company imposed a fine of more than Rs.2.9 million on the electricity thieves in respect of more than 93,000 detection units.
He said that in Faisalabad district, up till now, 875 electricity thieves were caught and fined more than Rs.107.9 million under 2.356 million detection units.
He said that 242 electricity thieves were caught in Jhang district so far and fined more than 900,000 detection units amounting to more than Rs.37.8 million.
Similarly, 245 electricity thieves were caught from Bhakkar and fined Rs.32.2 million for 627,000 detection units.
In Chiniot district, 302 electricity thieves were charged for more than 860,000 detection units amounting to Rs.32.1 million.
Meanwhile, more than 267,000 detection units amounting to Rs.12.5 million were imposed on 75 electricity thieves caught from Khushab district.
In Mianwali district, 284 electricity thieves were caught and more than 586,000 detection units amounting to Rs.27.8 million were imposed on them as fine.
In Sargodha district, 283 electricity thieves were caught and fined more than 700,000 detection units amounting to more than Rs.32 million.
In district Toba Tek Singh, 194 electricity thieves were caught and handed down with more than 513,000 detection units amounting to Rs.26.1 million, he added.
