DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Feb 25 (APP): The district administration has carried out a special operation against overpricing and the sale of substandard food items in Sheikh Yousaf Chowk, imposing a total fine of Rs23,000 on violaters.
According to the district administration, on the directives of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Additional Assistant Commissioner Sajid Ali Khan conducted inspections, targeting shops selling vegetables, fruits, and fried items in the area.
The initiative aimed to provide relief to the public and ensure effective control over the prices of essential commodities.
During the inspection, several shopkeepers were found charging prices higher than the officially notified rates, while in some cases the quality of food items was found to be unsatisfactory.
Fines were imposed on the spot, and shopkeepers were strictly warned to ensure full compliance with the official price list in the future.
He said that such measures would continue to address public complaints and curb inflation.
He emphasized that overpricing and the sale of substandard food items would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
